All the dealers are dropping the ads for the IC V8000 which evidentally means Icom is no longer producing this radio and it is in my unprofessional, amateur opinion a solid, cheap 2 meter radio. I have owned the 1st one since 2003 and bounced it around in a farm truck for about 1/2 million miles hauling horses. Hopefully Yaesu will keep making good radios. Icom dropped the    IC V82 but I have 2 and they're strong little radios, just the right size so my wife likes them also.

In the marketing arena, evolution is more profitable than innovation most of the time, and typically less expensive R&D wise. So that's where they go.
