Whoa!  Saw the new Elecraft Solid State legal limit and 800 watt Amps at the Visalia Int'l DX Convention.

Wow!  Very elegant!   Elecraft said the new 1500 watt solid state amp w/auto tuner will retail for less than $6,000.   Both amps had a black face, digital displays and appeared very much like an Alpha 87A.

They will be getting their FCC approvals soon.

Alpha was there with some boards for the Alpha 9500 but did not have a completed unit yet to show. They said they would have a 9500 at Dayton.

In my opinion, they are the first of many. Yes, they are expensive, but the price will come down as more and more folks gear up to make them.

Daytron makes some really powerful SS amplifiers for the Fed, so there is a lot of expertise in the marketplace. It has just now started to filter down to the amateur marketplace.
