Letters printing on screen make no words!
How do I get it to work right?

Several causes or reasons for this... I assume we can eliminate equipment and software malfunction?? Here are some possibilities:

1. You were in QPSK mode decoding a BPSK (psk31) tramsmition, or vise versa. Are you sure you were tuning a PSK31 signal?

2. You are not centerred on the TX frequency. AFC control "ON" will prevent that normally. (Read the instructions for tuning a PSK31 signal.)

3. To much audio input from the reciever. Usually that will be obvious from viewing the "waterfall" or "spectrum" display.

4. The PSK31 signal has to much phase distortion. This is a big one lately due to the recent solar acivity wich causes severe multi-path distortion at times on the HF band. If your program has a round tuning indicator for psk31 that shows the polarity of the BPSK and QPSK signal, you will notice the distortion on that indicator. Try Feld Hell or MFSK16 modes when PSK31 fails due to multi-path distortion.

Good Luck. Don't forget to try the other sound card digi modes as well.
