Does anyone know how to interface a tnc to an alinco dj-190 handheld???

I am not familiar with that model, but assuming it has a MIC input connector with pins for the PTT switch as well as an external speaker jack, then you would not need a TNC to operate Packet. You would use the MixW V2.0 windows program and make a simple interface for audio in/out and single transistor PTT switch. (Info is on-line or in the MixW HELP file.) Using speaker audio is not the norm, but should work fine. The Packet operation in the mixW seems to be as good or better than what I have experienced in my KAM+ TNC. You will not get personal mail box operation naturally... It has provisions for HF and VHF Packet. The best thing is, you will get all the other digi modes as well  ;-)
