I've been building and using PC's since the 4.77mHz 8088, 640k memory and DOS2.1 days all the way up through XP, Vista, Windows 7 and now Windows 8.

I've been using Windows 8 on a laptop for about 6 months now and I do not understand all of the negativity about Windows 8 at all.  So what if it boots up to the Metro interface!  Click on the desktop icon/box and voila you are looking at a desktop very similar to Windows 7.  Sure some things are in different places but they were moved in Vista and Windows 7 too.  Changing windows is easy just move the cursor to the upper left or lower left corner and the previous windows are there, click and you've moved to the other window.

Move the cursor into the upper or lower right corner and icons pop up for start, settings, etc.  It's all pretty simple really and after using it for a few days it becomes old hat.

I've not had any feeling that Windows 8 is touch screen centric at all.  Using it with a mouse is a breeze.  The metro interface is simply a different method of showing your installed programs.  Can't find your app/program? Right click on metro, then click on all apps.  Move the scroll bar at the bottom with the mouse until you see your program.  Click on the icon and the program starts.  It's easy.

I will concede that when I tried out the Windows 8 developers beta I absolutely despised it, but it was a beta that felt like an alpha.  The final release works like a charm for me and believe me when I say I don't adapt well to change.  Not to mention that every other PC I own or use runs XP.  And I am the IT department for the small company I work for.

Anyway, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
