I received an email informing me of his plans early this morning and then I read his output power and antenna selection and I stopped reading.

At least Chesterfield is going to be activated, Jon.  That was one we were talking about only a few weeks ago.  With no further surprises I could finish the year off at 325.  Now that Mellish has been received all the QSL cards have been received except for FT5ZM.

Good luck trying to work the 4W.  You may have a slight chance.

At sunspot peak a few months ago I was working lots of Indonesians who were doing it with 5W on SSB. But you're right, no chance for me on this one!

I know you need 4W a lot more than I do, hi.  You are very close to HR.  If there's no hope on this one for sure you will get your deserved Q with Jon's operation in Oct.

Nice work Bob.  I have been spending an awful lot of butt-in-the-chair time on this one without dice.  20m, 17m, and 15m....nada.  Someone posted a comment saying he's now running 2.5w Shocked  I'm not going to give up so I'll just keep trying.

I heard him cq'n on 15m @02:16 last night, Jonathon.  About a 43. Didn't need it, so didn't try.

He spots himself but doesn't stick around very long.

Thanks Tom.  I was at the radio @02:16z last night however I couldn't hear anything on 15m.

Two days ago Felix answered my buddy (N0UN)'s CQ DX.  Of course I wasn't home at the time.  This is the second time a 4W station answered my buddy's CQ DX.  I tried the same trick this morning on 20m but Felix didn't bite (or perhaps he did answer but I couldn't hear him).  But I did work a few DX stations so I know the band is open to Asia (one KL7, two JAs, and a ZS5 on LP).  I also heard a couple YBs on 20m.  The YBs were probably running 1,500 watts.  They are always loud.

Recording of Felix answering N0UN's CQ DX.  After listening to the recording I realized that I had zero chance even if I was in the shack.  Wayne could hear stations an order of magnitude better than I could.

I'm surprised anyone is hearing him at all!
I have listened each time he's spotted, and not a trace - with 3 or 4 elements pointing at him. Vlad was easy to work when he was there a few years ago.
Good thing I don't need 4W, except for a Marathon point.
I expect to hear the proper DXpedition there in October.
This 'activation' has just been a tease for most people.

Felix is on 15m right now and I could copy him 50-75% when he's in the clear.  I threw my call out a dozen times.  The problem is that there's a small pileup from NA and JA, and since he's so weak you cannot hear your own call when he comes back.  Plus there's another DX (DV1JM) 2kc above.  Go figure.  His work rate is painfully slow on SSB simplex.

Will keep monitoring and keep hoping.

Update: with DV1JM's signal just 2kc up and building it's impossible to hear Felix.
