I just purchased the Little Tarheel HP. I’m going to use in my SUV with an Icom IC-7000 and I have a few installation questions:

In the manual it states:  When using the SDC-102 controller make sure to reduce the stall current value in the controller to between (020 to 030). Not changing the factory default current from (075) to (020 to 030) when using auto park…. I have the Ameritron SDC-104I does it need adjusting for auto park too?

I also have an LDG Electronics IT-100 automatic antenna tuner. Do you think it is necessary to use a tuner after I do the initial SWR setup with my analyzer and just use the SDC-104I?

Thank you.

I would recommend checking the SDC 104 stall current setting.  When I first tried out my Tarheel 75A and SDC 102, the controller tripped immediately every time I tried using it.  Turned out the trip current was set too low, and increasing it solved the problem.  Checking and changing the trip current is very easy, so I'd do so before trying it out.  No sense risking it being set too high at the factory.

My 75A/SCD102 setup works great without any external tuner.  I doubt that you would need one with yours.  I used my antenna analyzer for preliminary testing just like you're doing.  BTW, I bought the IC-7000 just before they were discontinued.  The Icom, Tarheel, and SDC work great together.  Enjoy!
