Really? You are trumpeting W8 passing XP? How long has it been since has been routinely installed on shipping computers?

**cough** Windows 7 **cough**.

No I have heard many say that 8 would never catch and pass XP. If they would have held 8 rollout off 6 months or so until 8.1 was ready and launched that as 8 it would of had a different response.  Myself I like 8.1 and still use Vista more than 7.

New Windows 7 computers are counted as Windows 8 sales. Besides the whole thing is pointless as the hype is building toward Windows 9. Windows 8 is pretty much moot at this point....

I want to see figures from several different sources because these figures clash badly with other figures I have seen. Like XP having 23+% in August and the combined Win8 not reaching 14%, in fact during June and July a slight decline in Win8 usage.
I'll have to have another look at those figures on that link W8JX supplied.
BTW my wife still screams obscenities at her Win8.1 machine

No I have heard many say that 8 would never catch and pass XP.

Since that was a Microsoft link I would suggest that it is more than a little biased. Why not look here  : http://www.netmarketshare.com/

Win 7= 57%
Win XP= 24%
Win 8= 6%
Win 8.1= 7%

W8JX is a well known Microsoft shill.

I was kind of wondering how they upped there share by almost 10% in just 3 weeks. Now I understand that this was not the case at all.

I would hope it passed XP since they dropped support for it quite a while ago.

Its a good sign-not that sales are up, but hopefully we're getting some XP boxes off the net that are probably causing more harm than good.  Obviously there are people still running XP that know what they are doing, but there are a lot of people running it that probably have no clue that support for it has ended.

Glad to see people are coming into the fold finally.

Actually that site says:
( Desktop share by Version )

Win XP = 45.53%
Win 7 = 37.01%
Win Vista = 8.27%
Mac X 10.6 = 3%
Linux = 1.41%
Win 8 = 0.03%

But global.statscounter is different:

The numbers I quoted were by Desktop. I did not want to make W8JX feel too bad.

One thing is certain, you can find numbers to fit your own thinking. Just ask Mr. Romney who thought he was going to be President in the last USA election. He was told he was way ahead in the poll numbers, We all know how that turned out.

It is what I call the Emperor has No Clothes syndrome. You believe what you want to believe....

As usual you come up with unfounded BS.  As I recall he was not favored to win at all (except by his party) as he lacked key states. His 49% comment sealed his fate long before election. The only question was how much he would loose by. As it turns out it was not even close.

Point is Stan you always bend truth to suit your needs.

You believe what you want to believe....

You apparently have not seen the recent documentary (endorsed by him) about Mr Romney. Or watched Fox News on election night when Mr. Rove went ballistic insisting that Mr. Romney was going to win.  Wink Cheesy Cheesy

Bending the truth is something I learned from debating you. I figure if you do it , I will too.
