Friends Detail

Friend : Fern Lemire (VE6PAW)

Fern was a fantastic person and ambassador to the hobby. Probably one of the best known and best liked people in Alberta (VE6-land). He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Who best to describe him, but himself; I encourage you to check out his own postings and website which contain dozens of pictures from his professional truck driving career.

He was one of the only people I knew who had successfuly had a voice QSO with the MIR space-station while "on the job" in the cab of a truck.

I had coffee with Fern on several occasions over the years. Stood on the ground when he climbed the Leduc #1 tower to fix VE6LOS and listened to him describe what he saw from way up there. I just can't believe he is gone. There are a lot of people who will miss him, I am one.

Today right now it is 0130 on the 20th of November 2002 in the cool early morning hours of east central Illinois in the United States of America. I have come across this eham.net for the second time in the last few days due to various reasons. I first saw the "friends remembered" and passed by for I pretty much new that I wouldnt know anyone here for I am a NEWCOMER to the radio world.
After linking to both of His sites I can SEE that Fern was a EXCELLENT Father and Caring Husband and JUST an ALL AROUND GREAT Human being!!!! I am sorry that I never got to yawk with Him. He will be missed and I PRAY that His family and CLOSE friends find the comfort that OUR creator has for ALL of us here on earth...May God open His loving arms to hold and warm you Mrs Fern and Kids for He is there for you all.
with my deepest sympathies to you all.
