Friend : James Goedhart (N0RSE)

I spent 14 months rag chewing with my friend Jim,N0RSE, this on or near 28.400MHz. Jim and myself both had hours and hours of fun on the ten meter band. I was rag chewing on 28.405 on Christmas night when N7UQ heard me and told me the bad news, that my good friend had went to the big ham shack in the sky. I will miss him terribly, and I know alot of other hams are going to miss his big signal too.

I talked to Jim on 2 meter simplex. I enjoyed talking to him very much. He always encouraged me to learn morse code and get my ticket to go on the HF bands. I will miss him very much and the others who talk to him will too.

I had talked to Jim many times on 28.400 while on my way home from work. He always had an amazing signal up here into Ontario. Although I had only talked to him a few times, you could tell of his love for this great hobby, and he always went out of his way to make sure that the new hams felt welcome. I'm sure he will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.

Rest in peace Jim,

I happened across Jim's signal not to long after passing my upgrade to General. He was anxious to talk to someone from Minnesota, a state which he had been a former resident. He was pleasant to talk with and was always excited about Ham Radio. He encouraged me to take the extra exams available on-line until I made the upgrade a couple months later. I was unaware of his passing until reading the information here. I too, am sure he will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his family.

Jim was my Uncle and the reason I got into Ham radio. I diddn't get my ticket until after he passed, which saddens me as I would have loved to talk to him on the radio. He will be missed greatly by all and espically me. We were very close friends on ICQ and on the phone when I could talk to him. I loved it when he would visit because he always had interesting stories. I applied for and got his callsign (n0rse) to ensure that someone outside of the family diddn't get it, and it helps me remember him each time I say it.
