I very much regret to report that Chod Harris, WB2CHO/VP2ML, is a Silent
Key. Chod passed away early this morning from complications following a severe heart
attack. His family was with him when he died.
A memorial service is being planned, and a further message will follow about
arrangements.

The amateur radio fraternity lost a remarkable person yesterday as Chod passed on. My memories of Chod include the smile that was always present which telegraphed his endless sense of humor. Last year, at Dayton, we talked and laughed for over two hours reliving "war stories" and listening to each other. Chod reminded me of the purchase agreement used to buy my home in Connecticut, the WA1KID residence in the early 70's. In the formal purchase contract Chod had listed every antenna on the property in great detail as the primary sale and as if an afterthought, he named the house as no more than an improvement to the property. As he recounted this story , his eyes twinkled and his smile owned his face.
We have lost a contributor to our hobby, a proficient and courteous operator, a Murphy Marauder, and a friend. Chod's passing is painful for many reasons, but this was a person who gave so much more than what he ever received. Therefore, we must celebrate his life rather than dwell on the discomfort of his death.
