THE INFORMATION I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN FOR HEINZ IS AS FOLLOWS:
DIED TUESDAY 12-30-2003 OF A MASSIVE STROKE
WILL HAVE MEMORIAL SERVICES AT 11 AM AT:
NINDE GARDEN FUNERAL CHAPEL
3841 SOUTH PEORIA AVENUE
TULSA, OKLAHOMA 74105
(PHONE # 918-742-5556)
THERE WILL BE NO VIEWING AS HEINZ CHOSE CREMATION.
I ascertained this information from two sources, both local hams in Tulsa area.
Don Foster K5KW gave me the details. He was a friend of Heinz' for 35 years, and swapped many pieces of gear, even as recent as a couple of weeks ago.
The man who came in on frequency last night, was Guy Richey II, WA5QDG. He told me of Don Foster. I called Don today, (was too late last night) and he is forwarding an Email announcement from one of the many clubs Heinz supported. You know, Heinz serviced and owned repeaters in the Tulsa area.
This is all I have for now, and will forward the notice from the ham club in Tulsa upon receipt.

Heinz will sadly be missed by all of us on the 3875 group. Heinz was a very accomplished CW operator and loved the mode. His wonderful wit and strong bold voice will never be replaced.
God speed, Heinz.
We miss you greatly.

I just attended Heinz's memorial service. I first met Heinz about 30 years ago on KJRH's parking lot where I was a TV Engineer. He knew my two young daughters who are now grown and have families of their own. My youngest daughter was a Pharmacy Technician for the May's Drugstore near Heinz's house. Heinz was a regular customer of hers. On her last day before recently transferring stores, Heinz came in to thank her and say good-bye to her. That meant the world to her.
Even though I have been a ham for 43 years, Heinz was an Elmer or mentor to me, sharing his wisdom and advice with me over the many years. Through life, one only has a few they can call a real friend. Heinz was a friend, indeed.
73 and God speed, my friend.

One of CW's best in his own right. Heinz was never to be prized for his smooth fist although he had many acomplishments. Nor'praised for the unmistakeable low grumby voice that was always a pleasure to hear. He had a cany way of sometimes setting you back a few notches wheither you needed it or not. Nevertheless he was fine operator, always around for a QSO on 3875 and will be missed by his peers along with this amateur operator!

A teardorp still falls on my silent key this morning as I look at the picture on my wall of W5UIP, Heinz with his fine shack and his smile with his favorite telegraph key.
I have yet to touch the tarnished telegraph key - Instead moved to the piano keys to complete a dedicated song I write "Remember Me Now"
You knew Heinz as a man who could look beyond your FIST into your heart.
God Bless You, our lasting friendship!
Life is so short but a grain of sand in the total plan.
