A tribute to Bob and memories written by some of his many friends are online at: http://www.w0uce.net/VP2VIPage.html
I first knew Bob Denniston as WØNWX, when he drove an early '50s Buick with a 160 meter antenna on the roof. Always apprehensive that the low tree branches over the drive to his home QTH might peel the roof back like a sardine can, he eventually replaced that Buick with a Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible, knowing he couldn't put that antenna on a soft roof. He put it on the trunk lid. A Hallicrafters receiver and a Johnson Viking transmitter in his car gave him the ability, on 160 meters, to contact nearly any station in Iowa from his home town of Newton.
