Charlie W1HVA, was a good friend of myself and the longtime members of the Beaver Valley NET. I met Charlie when I was 13 while a friend K1WPO and I scouted our hometown of Northboro,Ma. looking for ham antennas. We both took our novice tests at Charlie's house thanks to Louie, W1LNG. I bought my first receiver, a BC-348 from Charlie in 1962. At that time Charlie was K1QLT and was an avid 6 meter operator and equipment builder.

He had a passion for chasing dx, as well as ragchewing with old friends.Building and repairing ham gear was enjoyed by him to his last day.He started many great friendships through ham radio. I will miss dropping on frequency to say hi to him, though I will always cherish those wonderful qso's we shared. Grampa thank you for your guidance You will be missed..
