Friends Detail

Friend : Jack Smith (N2RCT)

Amateur Radio lost another good one with the passing of this unique, funny & generous man.

Affectionately known simply as Jack, the "Hub of Morris County" was his title on the local repeater.

Jack was loved by all.

If lost on a road just about anywhere day or night in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania, only a single call to N2RCT would be required. "Never fear, Jack is here" would come through loud and clear with directions so accurate and detailed from where you were at the moment you swore he was a psychic with radar and a personal GPS system!

In his 86 years he had traveled them all!

If stuck and real help meant getting in his car at midnight, there was no hesitation.

Jack lived his life by the "Golden Rule".

Along the way he came up with a few additions on subjects such as ...

"Working"....
"I never do any work today I can do tomorrow"

"Fine dining"....
"It's the quantity of food not quality that interests me"

Jack's friends were extremely fortunate and better off for knowing him.

Friend : Jack Smith (N2RCT)

Old Jack was a real buddy and will really be missed. Another one of his sayings was that the best job is one where you come in at noon, quit at 1 pm, and have an hour off for lunch.

Rest in Peace, Jack.

The voice of the Splitock Repeater is an SK. He will long longer broadcast from the Hub of Morris County.
