Sherm was a Wheat Ridge, CO Police Officer and terrific friend. Always funny and laughing, in spite of dying from liver disease. We miss his subtle humor.
I new Sherman from high school '75-'77 even the short time I knew him he was a good friend, first time I saw Sherman he was walking around with his HT and I thought he was a undercover cop, so I went up to him and ask what was with the HT and he told me that he was a Ham operator(I was a C.B.er at the time)so he invited me to his QTH and showed all of his Ham gear and told about Autopatch and other Ham stuff,Month later Sherm ask if I would like to go on a patrol with other amateur radios with the Arvada, Co Police Department which I did.(remember one guy driving around in hearse car)after graduating from H.S. never saw much of Sherman, but knew of him being a Police Officer for Wheat Ridge, working dispatch..Up to this day I remember his call sign and know that I a New Ham Operator I was hoping for a QSO from him and say thanks for getting me interested in being a Ham..Sorry to hear about Sherman
