I met George back in 1960 when I was 15 yrs. old. He had a home brewed 300W AM station and a National NC-183 receiver. He also owned the local AM radio station (WGGH) in Marion, IL. His ham transmitter was made from left-over broadcast quality components. He also had a 25 watt 10M mobile station that he had worked S. America & Europe with. Boy, was I hooked. It was because of of him that I got my license 44 yrs. ago. We were always going to have a QSO during the last year but it never happened...my fault. He was a gentleman.
