If you were to look at the ads in the back of the ARRL Handbooks back in the late 50's and most of the 60's, in the Allied Radio ad you'd see the various "Hams at Allied". On of the fellows was Tasker, W9QBB. In the late 60's, Tasker had moved to Indianapolis and was at the old Glendale Allied store on N. Keystone. In late 1970, a young 12-year-old fellow walked into the store and asked to buy a telegraph key and an ARRL License Manual.Tasker Day was the clerk who waited on me, and his enthusiasm for Ham Radio Helped fan this "young squirt"'s excitement.
It was sad to see Tasker's name in the Silent Key column, I had always enjoyed having a QSO with him.
