Marty died of cancer at the age of 55. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. His old callsign was WB9DCM. He moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1987. He lived a few blocks from me, and I met him when I was listening on 20 meters and his signal "pinned" my Icom-730's S meter! He was a special-needs teacher at Edgewater High School in Orlando, and introduced amateur radio to the students. He was very devoted to his work, and loved the children. He gave me many ideas on how I could introduce amateur radio to my daughter's elementary school. He made many friends around the world through ham radio, and had a great personality. He was survived by his lovely wife Connie, his mother, daughters, son, and grandchildren. His life was cut too short, and he will be truly missed.
