Lou was a real good guy. The G5RV was my first antenna when I became a ham in 1985. Worked my first 200 countries on it. I ran across him on CW during my first year of hamming when he was winter vacationing in Chile (I *think* it was Chile). Several months later when he was back home in England from vacation, he mailed me a QSL card and copies of two articles he'd written on the G5RV antenna. These articles had been published long before I became a ham, and they explained the technical aspects of the antenna. That was a really nice gesture and I appreciated it. We had perhaps a dozen more qso's "by chance" in the following years. He seemed to be a genuinely nice person, and I'm sorry to learn that he's moved-on.
I had many great ragchews with Louis at his home as G5RV and at his winter home as CX5RV. He was a topnotch operator and a true gentleman. He will be missed.
