Collins J. ‘Con’ Farr passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center.
Mr. Farr was born Nov. 1, 1915 in St. Johnsbury, the son of Wilbur J. and Edith (Powers) Farr. In 1933, he graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy.
He served in World War II from 1941 – 1945 in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Radio Operator (NAAD) flying war material out of Presque Isle, Maine; he received the American Campaign and WWII victory medals.
Following his discharge, he returned to St. Johnsbury where he taught electronics at St. Johnsbury Trade School. Later he opened his own business, Con’s TV, on the Danville Rd. and later moved to Barre Town where he worked for Sprague Electronics. He retired from Vermont ETV for whom he operated transmitters atop several mountains.
Upon retirement he lived in Concord, Vermont and Florida. Since 1929 Con got great joy from his HAM radio operation (W1CBW). He loved to hunt and fish.
