Boulder resident David Pavel, 86, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, after a brief illness.
Dave was born April 25,1920, in Weirton, WV. During World War II, Dave became a decorated radioman/gunner in the Navy Air Service flying in B24s in the Pacific Theater. After spending 33 years with the Gary, Ind., police and fire departments in communications, he spent his retirement years in Wyoming.
He loved to fish but Ham radio (W7YP) was Dave¹s favorite hobby. He volunteered his services to church and many social and civil organizations.
Dave is survived by his son, Michael Pavel of Beverly Shores, Ind.; two brothers: Peter Gilea of Illinios and George (JoAnn) Gilea of Merrillville, Ind,; a sister, Dorothy (Richard) Gilea Chrisman of Fishers, Ind.; and by many nieces nephews and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Theresa (Klodzen) Pavel; parents Mike and Christine (Neagu) Pavel; and two brothers Paul (Vera) Gilea of Merillville, Ind., and Benjamin Gilea.
I had the great pleasure of living a few blocks away from Dave back in Gary. I could not have had a better friend. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.
73 Dave and rest with Theresa in the glory of our Lord.
