Friend : Jack Brown (WB6CGN)

Jack Brown was from a small town in Oklahoma call Shanwee. He was always interested in Electronics and Ham Radio. His cousin Gil Wood W5NUT was an early influnce. Jack joined the Army and learned to repair Radios and TeleType Equipment. After the service he worked at Lockeed in Ontario CA. After several Layoffs he took a job at SunKist in Ontario CA and he and wife Bonnie bought a home in Fontana CA. Jack continued to be interested in Electronics and he got his Tech Ticket in the early 60's. He was very interested in early VHF and built equipment and Antennas for 146MHZ, 220MHZ, 433MHZ. He was also invovled in early Fast Scan TV in the early 70's. He later became interested in HF and CW - Where he made a number of contacts and got very good at the code. He got me started in electronic in 5th grade and loaned me an old WWII Receiver for SWL. He later helped me build my own HF equipment once I got my ticket. He also helped me with my College Senior Project (146MHZ to 28MHZ Transverter). He was a Great Dad and a Smart RF Tech. I really miss him and Loved him a lot. Bill - KA6KBC
