Weldon B. Drennan Jr. (K5LQL/AFA4JV), Age 65 died Thursday February 8, 2007. At age 13, Weldon became a Ham operator. In 1960 he went on further to become a MARS operator and remained one during the next 46 years until his death. It was only natural his passion for electronics and radio should carry over into his business. At age 15 he built his first amplifier, which is still at the office. He finally decided to get his Extra ticket after i started teasing him about it. Feb 24 was going to be test day. After 5 years of working for him, he finally convinced me to get my ticket and give up my CB toys, many of them will be great for 10m when the cycle peaks. Sitting in the shop listening to stations all over the country and in South America and Africa during the low time of the solar cycle made up my mind. He has always been willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn electronics or otherwise. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, Hams, his students and his friends.
