My cousin, Eric Ripley, passed this past week from complications with pneumonia. He was active serving with Skywarn, the Lorain County Amateur Radio Club and was active with the area Red Cross Emergency Communications.
Sorry to hear of your cousin's passing. I did not know him, but it is likely that we are related. Most of the Ripley's go back to a group that came over to the southern NJ area from England/Ireland.
My best to all, and sorry to hear of your loss. 73 Bill Ripley, KY5Q, Albuquerque, NM ky5q at arrl dot net
I had no idea Eric and myself use to hookup on 144.200 every chance we could . He WillBe Missed
I remember the night I was scrolling through 2m looking for a friend to chat the evening away with on simplex. The friend never showed that night but I was lucky enough to run into Eric and a few of his friends. They were newly licensed and full of all the excitement and expectation that comes from becoming a HAM. It was a pleasure to spend numerous nights and days sharing the air on all bands with such a good guy. Eric's love and knowledge of computers spread to me and led to me making them my career. In the end I hope I was as helpful to him in some way as he was to me.
What HAM radio should and can be.
