Friend : Don Tetreault (KD5MFL)

Don was born July 16, 1943 in Port Arthur, TX. He passed away on September 9., 2008 in Dallas. Don graduated from Lamar Tech University in Beaumont, TX. He went on to work for Collins Radio and Texas Instruments. Captain Don enjoyed sailing on his boat, "Cloud 9" with his wife, "Admiral Dianne". They have spent the last five years sailing in the Caribbean. Don is survived by his wife of 38 years.

Don's interest in amateur radio began at an early age. His next door neighbor in Port Arthur was an avid operator and Don would "listen in" often. When he was 16 he passed the required Ham tests and received his license. During his time in the US Marine Corps and college, there never seemed to be enough time to devote to staying active in the Amateur Radio community. But after years of working as an engineer he finally retired and started practicing his Morse Code again. He received his Extra Class license in 2000 and enjoyed listening and talking with other Cruisers on the "Coconut Telegraph" and the many other Cruiser and Safety & Security nets. KD5MFL is now off-line.
