Charlie was the last of the Founding Fathers of the 50+ yr old (larkfield.org) ARC. He was a generous and helpful friend and mentor to me and many in both the ham radio and RC airplane hobbies. Charlie was an amazing person to whom precision and perfection just seemed to come naturally. He inspired all to live and do likewise. He will be remembered and missed for a long time to come.
73 Charlie! -Briggs Longbothum, ab2nj
On September 2nd my good friend and Elmer Charlie Haubeil passed away. He was always unselfish with his time and knowledge. Some of my most memorable experiences with Charlie is when I met him in 1968. He taught me the novice material on Saturday afternoons in his basement and building my novice station. Charlie was a founding member of the Larkfield Amateur Radio Club in Huntington, NY and always participated in club activities till the end. 73 and rest in peace.
The last time I saw Charlie was over 40 years ago. I was a
young pup and he was a tireless leader and participant in
numerous LARC events. A gentleman and a good soul who
to this day over 40 years hence provides fond and treasured
memories. Thank you, Charlie!
