It is with deepest sorrow I report the passing of Kim Kimmerly N5XGI earlier today. Kim was the Jackson County Emergency Communications Manager in Mississippi, an Extra Class ham, and a VEC. He was active in traffic handling and was an Elmer to many Mississippi hams. His wife, Mary, is also a ham. Kim and Mary had been married 53 years. Kim was retired from the Army (E9).
My fondest memories of Kim were working with him at the Mississippi Special Olympics the last several years at Keesler AFB. Kim served as Net Control. He was one of the VECs when I passed my Extra Class theory.
Kim was also the driving force behind the nightly Jackson County ARES/RACES Net on the 145.110 repeater. He was a staunch supporter of the local radio clubs and hamfests.
The very best of 73's, Kim--your many, many ham friends will never forget you.
