Stanley A. Tomyl
age 59, of Kailua-Kona, HI died on Saturday, September 6 at home after a brief illness.
He was born on Sepember 17,1948, in Clinton, MA to the late Anthony and Sophie (Kowalczyk)Tomyl. He attended St. Mary School and graudated from Clinton High School in 1967. He earned an Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology from Mt. Wachusett Community College.
Stan proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, having attained the rank of SP 4.
He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. On September 15, 1984 he married Linda Provencial, and in 1988 they moved to Hawaii. Stan was most recently employed by Hokuli`a in Kona. He was a member of St. Peter Chanel Church in Hilo and the Legion of Mary. He was an avid ham radio operator and a member of the International Association for Radio Telecommunications and Electromagnetics, Inc. and the National Association for American Radio Relay League. He was a ham operator for over 30 yrs. and loved the contests he participated in.
He was also a member of the VFW.
Stan is survived by his wife Linda and their two daughters, Julia Provencial of Gardner, MA and Sara Stroman of Rocky Point, NC; two grandsons and three sisters, Sister Constance Marie CSSF, of Enfield, CT, Joanne of Wilton, NH, and Julie Ann of Clinton, MA. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hawaii.
Interment will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.
