I met Jerry when he first became licensed for Ham radio. I always enjoyed talking to him.
I got to participate in several Ham related activities with Jerry. I'll always remember the good times that we had at Camp Roland for Field Day, and on East River Mt. and Round Mt. for the VHF contests ("mountain topping").
Jerry was a member of the East River Amateur Radio Club and also served as Emergency Coordinator for Mercer County Amateur Radio Emergency Service. Jerry also served as past president of the VA Appalachian Wireless Association in Wytheville, Va.
He truly did have a great heart, and was a friend to all. He will be greatly missed!
Jerry was born January 26, 1952 in Christiansburg, Va. and was a lifelong resident of Bluefield, W.Va. Jerry was a graduate of Bluefield High School and received his education in engineering at Bluefield State College. He was employed for the last 29 years at Clinch River Corporation as Head Drafting Engineer where his strong work ethic served him well.
