I got to know Don nearly 30 years ago. He was one of those wonderful folks who loved our hobby and those in it. He was a major factor in developing the Hunstville Hamfest into the stellar event it is today. Don also was a class act DXer, as anyone who heard him operate can attest. 73s and thanks for all the great memories!
I'll miss don so much as he give me my test for my ticket in 1995
73 Don. Enjoyed working with you and learning from you.

I met Don only once, he will be greatly be
missed by all of us.
I was in the North Alabama DX Association with Don in the late 70s & thru the 80s. I enjoyed chasing DX with him, hearing his stories, and benefiting from his incredible efforts to make the NADXA and the Huntsville HAMfest what it was in those years. I'll never forget operating at 4U1ITU, trying to pick out stations from a pile-up. Then, waaaay above all the other signals in a softly-spoken voice, I heard, "Henry Ocean Kilowatt". I knew Don's secret!
