Leon worked 6 meters every chance he had along with every band opening. He was a career lawman of the first order and worked mainly Panola and Gregg Counties, retiring as a Deputy Sheriff in Gregg County. Leon lived around the Longview area most but not all of his life. A long battle with cancer was too much and it finally won. ALL Leon's friends will miss him greatly. 73 Leon
I first met Leon around 1969 and he was a Six Meter hound even back then. Leon worked law enforcement and retired from there. Gregg and Panola counties were his two main employers. Around Longview and Carthage was always home to Leon. Cancer was wanting to take Leon for a long time and finally won the battle on July 12, 2009.
From all your friends: 73 Leon..
I am so saddened by the news of Leons passing.I spoke with him about a month ago on the phone & his spirits were high even though he was not well.I have been knowing Leon now since 1994 & we became VERY GOOD friends thanks to the 6 meter band where we met.Rest in peace my friend I will NEVER forget you & your humor.May God bless & comfort your wonderful family.

Very sorry to hear about Leon. I could always count on several enjoyable QSOs with him during Es season. Enjoyed kidding him about his "remote antenna" in North Carolina. 73 Leon.
