W8AXI was an elmer to many young hams in his home town, Rock, Mi. I met Bob when I was a teenager recovering after a severe accident left me home bound, a new quadriplegic. Bob approached my dad to see if I might be interested in finding out about amateur radio. His generous offer to help and much effort by him after that was a key to opening a new interest to me and was the seed that grew into my 30 year career beginning as an electronics tech just a few years after getting my ham ticket.
Bob had many interests from restoring antique cars to flying his own plane. He was active in his community and left a large imprint on the lives of many.
