Friend : Earl Bull (KB2SLE)

Sad to report the passing of Earl Bull KB2SLE,
I shall miss seeing him at local club meetings, Hamfests, Field Day etc...
and hearing him on the radio.
He was a FB Amateur Radio Operator,
and I was lucky enough to have known him for the last 3 1/2 years.

Earl A. Bull, 90, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home after a long illness with his wife and family at his side.
He was the beloved husband of Emma Bachteler Bull. Born and educated in Waterford, he was the son of the late Lloyd A. and Myrtle Sandercox Bull.

He attended Waterford High School and was a graduate of the National Radio Institute and the Gordon West Radio School. He has been a resident of Latham since 1955. He was proprietor and manager of Trojan Sign Displays of Troy and Watervliet for 22 years, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Bull was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Latham, where he was a former vestryman. He was a life member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge #75 F&AM, Latham and was past trustee of the Latham Masonic Temple Association.

An avid ham radio operator (KB2SLE), he was a member of the Troy Amateur Radio Association, East Greenbush Radio Club, Schenectady Radio Club and the Zephyrhills Amateur Radio Corporation in Florida. He also enjoyed woodworking and was proud of his carousel horse.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters, Bettye Doin Thompson, Dorothy E. McIntyre, Shirley H. McCarthy and Phylis J. Patrick and several nieces and nephews including a special great-great-niece, Lilli-anna Beal.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Marjorie Roberts, Robert C. Bull, Gerald F. Bull, Gloria Fonda, Warren K. Bull and Raymond E. Bull.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Latham with Rev. Richard B. Lehmann, rector, officiating.
Interment in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Monday 4:00-7:30 p.m. followed by the Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 129 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110 or to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Earls famous "KB2SLE HERE" will be sorely missed. We used to chase the DX around and he was a true gentleman. I knew Earl for 10 years or more andenjoyed talking to him at club meetings and at hamfests.
