John, NF8P, ex-KA8KUQ, was born in the Netherlands and was a veteran of the Dutch Navy and served 18 months in Dutch New Guinea. He was a member of Mara Amateur Radio Club and was their very first president. John loved just about everything about Ham Radio and loved Field Day. He also belonged to the NRA. He was proud to be an American citizen and supportive of the military and has a special place in his heart for veterans. He was a retiree of Michigan Tractor.
I’ll always remember John, with his shirt off, working Field Day stations. He wouldn’t quit! You could always depend on John to give help whenever it was needed. He helped Elmer many people into Ham Radio and always got involved in his club. John’s smile will always belong to the loving memories I have of him.
John was 76 years young.
Surviving are his wife, Mary "Gerri" (Dudick) Visser; his children, and many grandchildren.
I will sure miss John, though he is gone he will never be forgotten.

John was my neighbor and a fellow Ham Radio operator for many years. John's picture is posted right near my radio here in my station and will be for many years in the future.
