Known as the 'Heath Kit Junkie', Bill Brandenburg became a silent key on 12/6/2010. Bill was a former landlord at the apartment complex I lived at in Novato, CA. Bill was a great guy and always cared for others before himself. He was a net control operator for the WARFA group. As a former tenant of his, I can say he was the best landlord anyone could have. He will be missed by many.
I first met Heathkit Bill back in the early 90's at various Northern CA swap meets. Bill always had a smile for everyone and was one of the most friendly hams I know. He would go out of his way to help others especially if they needed some obscure part for a HK or needed help with one.
A wonderful gentleman whose kind and cheery manner I will now miss. 73 old friend,
I am missing talking to Bill already! He was a
fun guy on the air and even in the worst of
times (the last few years) he remained a
shining beacon that drew you to him and Amateur
Radio. I hope St Peter has him in the Heathkit
room busily glowing in the light!!!
I am very sad to hear of Bill's passing.
He was one of those unique persons.
I always enjoyed our conversations about ham radio.

Bill was one of those who's voice you never forgot once you heard it. It was easy to pick out on a crowded band.
He was an inspiration to all that new him and will be sorely missed on the bands.
