Bobby (or "Navajo Bob") was one of the first people I talked to on the radio. He invited me and a friend over to his station and helped us check out an issue with my radio. He always had a friendly smile and something funny to say when you saw him at a radio gathering or talked to him on the air. He will be missed by many of us! I remember his gracious sisters and cousin who would sometimes take him to events. I'm sure this is a difficult loss for you. My condolences to the entire extended family.

I was so saddened to hear of Bobby's passing the other night. He was a fantastic ambassador to the hobby of Amateur Radio and a great person to know. My wife and I will greatly miss him, his humor, and his generosity of spirit.

I am a friend to Nancy, Bob's sister. I would have loved to have known Bob as he seemed to be dear and quite the character. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Please know that you all are in my prayers and thoughts at this time. God bless.

I will always remember "Navaho Bob."
You could see him smile over the ham radio. He always ordered the desert at Appelbe's after the meeting. He always had a kind word for everyone as we did for him.
I remember when he told me he got a cat (I have two and mentioned the over the radio often.) I gave him some of my cat magazines. Hope his kitty is doing well. This is a sad day.

Bob is reason I got into ham radio when I did. When I was in high school, I first got acquainted talking to "Wheeler" as a part of the Old Channel 35 gang in the afternoons. At one point, I was invited over to his house where he shared his station and knowledge with me. Shortly after, I was licensed as a ham and made my first contact from his station to W1AW. My first radio was the same as one of his, a Yaesu FT-50 complete with charger station from Master Charger. I leaned on him for advice while finding my way around as a ham.

Bob was always hiding somewhere on the radio and it was a pleasure to catch up to him on an occasion when I found him. Although I only recently saw Bob at hamfests and other events, I will still miss my "elmer". He is the reason I play with radio stuff to this day and for that I an truly grateful for knowing him.

Bobby made everyone around him smile. Not a nicer guy on the planet.I was lucky enough to take him on an otherwise boring road trip to Moberly. Even the surprise flat tire was funny with Bobby in the van. His attitude made you want to be around him. Many of us enjoyed being corrupted by NV0H!

Bobby was one of the first people I "met' after getting my ham license and was a tremendous help to me and many new hams. He attended many SLSRC club events and "lit up" the room when he arrived with his humor and positive attitude. Bobby will be missed by all.

Bobby was a great friend and a great Ham Radio Operator. "Navaho Bob" Was a name many of you may not know. It was a result of his friend Jim, (N0OBG) typing Bob's call sign (NV0H) into a word processor and the spelling correction told him it was "Navajo" rather than NV0H. Bobby was know as Navajo Bob from then on. As president of the Ham Radio Club (SLSRC) I know I can speak for all the members when I say Bobby will be missed very much. Bobby always sat in front and I could always count on his sense of humor to brighten up the meeting.

We will miss you very much Navajo!!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Bob was a very special person. The first time I "met" him on the air, he made a quip about something that he knew would stir up some listening friends. Several came on the air with their own one-liners for him. I was a new ham and I could tell immediately that this man was truly loved by the ham radio community. I had put the call out to him because I was moving into the house down the street from him and wanted to say hello. This was the start of our friendship. Bob has been a friend and mentor to me ever since. He was such an upbeat person with a neat sense of humor and had the greatest laugh. Really fun to be around and talk to. Burl and I will miss him so terribly much. 73 dear friend.

We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Bob's family and to let you know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time.

Bob was a real inspiration. He was a "behind-the-scenes" enabler of many, fixing issues that some of us couldn't really grasp, but let him handle on his time, in him way, and from what I understand, flawlessly. He couldn't get to many events to support them, but several "hams" attended those events, that received his help to be better at them, including me. Never a complaint, never a hint of bad attitude, and always a joy to see him when I could, yes, I will miss Bob sorely, as will many I'm sure.

To his loved ones - please know that he supported many, and despite this hobby that obsessed him as it does some of us, he did far more good than you might realize. His many kindnesses will live far into the future in public service - and for that, we are all blessed.

Navajo Bob, your smile, warmth, and humor was infectious, and your knowledge of fire department radios will be missed. It was an honor to know you.

I am new to the amateur radio community but have met so many wonderfully inspirational people through it, and my friend, Navajo Bob, was one of the first I met. Bobby opened his arms to greet me on the air and guided me through the first days on the air and tolerated my never-ending questions with gusto and humor. Bobby, you will be missed by many, many people whom you have touched through amateur radio and elsewhere, including myself.
