When you heard that deep voice on .54 no call was needed. Phil was a great guy and a great ham. He will be deeply missed.

I'm guessing every new ham always remember their first QSO. My first QSO two years ago was with Phil W0PWA on an old Tempo S1 I paid $5 for. Phil had a deep gentle voice that even made that dilapidated HT sound good. He helped me figure out the offsets and answered all the questions a new ham asks. I've missed hearing his voice on the radio for some time now. Farewell and 73's Phil.
My parents knew Phils parents a long time ago. I didn't know Phil untill a couple of years ago when I found him on the radio one day. We got along fine from then on. He will be greatly missed. Hook one up where you are at, and we can talk again. 73 N0BYS
