It was an honor to know Dave K4WCH. Mike K4XE helped him get licensed and he quickly became one of the gang. He was instrumental in club field days always lending a hand where he could. K4XE and I got into repeaters several years back and Dave joined in. We didn't have a name for our group until one day we were riding down a road together and he saw a pretty girl. He rolled down his window and started barking at her. I was shocked to say the least but this was his way to show she was cute :) Thus our group became the Three Dog Repeater Group since there were three of us. Also I will never forget the time Dave was helping with some tower work. He got about half way up and a storm cloud was brewing. I told him to come on down. He agreed and started climbing down. When he got down he told me he did not feel well. Then he started griping his chest and arm. He was indeed having a heart attack. We jumped in his truck and I called K4XE to have the ambulance meet us at the bottom of the mountain. It was a rough ride since I paid no attention to the terrain as we went down being more concerned with my friend. He made it to the hospital. Several years have past and Dave had a bout with cancer. After beating it, it came back in force in his lung. I will always remember the fun times we had. He was a great friend to everyone that knew him. 73 and RIP my friend.
