O.D. Kost, 79, of Vermont, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 AM Wednesday August 31, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
He was born Jan. 27, 1932 in Vermont Township to Oscar and Myrna Cassel Kost; he married Anna Stoops on Aug. 5, 1951 in Ipava, Illinois. She survives.
He is also survived by 1 daughter; Kandy (Ed) Hammond of Ipava, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a brother; William Kost and a brother and sister in infancy.
He was a graduate of V.I.T. High School and attended Western Illinois University; he served in the Army from 1952-1954.
He was the chief radio engineer for Sudbrink Enterprises (commercial AM/FM broadcasting) for over 25 years and then managed the family farms.
He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, K9EWK.
Graveside services will be at 10 AM Friday September 2, 2011 at Vermont Cemetery in Vermont, Illinois. Tim Gilliland will officiate.
Friends may call at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb, Illinois on Thursday from 3-7 PM.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of O.D.
I worked for Sudbrink Broadcasting at one of their stations in Houston back in the 70's.
Though never meeting him, we spent many an hour on the phone discussing technical issues. He was always courteous and profesional in every way. He will be missed.
