I talked to Merrill (Mel) (Big M) for many years on 160 and 80 Meters. He always had a very good sense of humor. He may of had a few radio problems but during the process of on the air help he provied lots of grins. He will be sorley missed by many.
Mel, K8MKF
was a good friend of mine. He was an expert constructor and could make anything out of anything. we built antennas together over the years tho the last few yrs his health got in the way. He told many good stories of his life as an electrician, and gave us a lot of laughs. We'll miss him. KB8IKC
Mel/Merrill was one of my favorites during my brief Ham life. He was always quick with a reply and a distinctive voice. He was a nice guy and he finished first! I'll always remember the last time I talked with him. He is missed. 73! Mel. Bob KD8PHX

I have never meet Merrill or had a QSO but
I always enjoyed to hear his friendly voice and good sense of humor on 3.976 Mhz. He never said a bad thing about anyone. I miss his voice and wished we would of had a QSO ...Take Care to ALL & 73 Smitty K8VYA
Merrill was fun to be around and we had fun going to the swaps. Listening and talking with Mel on 160/1850 in the morning was our normal routine. And if we didn't have his doubling on Larry W8MIS we would not have had so much fun - but we did!!! Mel had many friends that helped him with various projects. I got to help a few times - once with an antenna, and another with a garage door, and almost during the whole time, we listened to Oscar (his dog) bark at us - as to say - hurry up!! It was fun knowing Mel, and he's already missed. Armin WD8CRQ

Well I didn't realize that a photo uploaded would go to the top - so I'm sorry I uploaded it. It took over what had been there. But here is another one of Mel - with Mel's name on it. Armin WD8CRQ
Mel was one of the good guys! He had a golden personality and a golden screwdriver and gave us a few golden laughs along the way.
