Joan was my mom. She received her novice
license a long time ago, but only made one
contact and she loved it because the ham was
flirting with her. She had passed the novice test to
please my Dad(WA1PFS). Unfortunately she
didnt have any interest in pursuing the hobby any
further, but she always encouraged Dad and I to
stay involved which we did untill his untimely
death in 2004. I guess this is just a way to say to
all those ham wives , moms, daughters, hubbys,
brothers etc to keep encouraging your hams to
get involved in the ham community. Its a fun and
diverse hobby for all to enjoy.
David, alot of great silent keys in the books - keep the tradition alive. My Dad Ray Crites (K1WW) passed in Feb 2006 - miss him alot - get others involved in Ham Radio if you can - we lived in New Hampshire for many years. 73 David K1WJ in Arizona.
