Edward George, age 60, of 216-12th
Street, died at the Boone County
Hospital on July 6, 2012.
Ed was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on
September 19, 1951, the son of Donald
and Phyllis (Sebring) George.
He graduated from Grand Community High
School in Boxholm in 1969. On July 25,
1975, Ed married Susan Gates in Boone.
Since April of 1973, Ed worked as a
conductor/brakeman for the Chicago
Northwestern and presently for the Union
Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the Boone Amateur
Radio Club, Boone County Sportsmen's
Club, and was Vice President of the
Winged Warriors Car Club.
Ed enjoyed muscle cars, fishing, RV
camping at Branson, Missouri, ham radio,
target shooting, yard work, antique
shopping for railroad memorabilia, and
he loved driving Plymouth and Dodge
Cars.
Ed is survived by his wife Sue of Boone;
his daughter Sherri Norley and husband
Derrold of Ames; two grandsons Isaiah
and Tony Norley of Ames; his mother
Phyllis George of Newton; two brothers,
Frank and Tom George, both of Newton;
three sisters, Jean Nagle and companion
Norm Osten of Newton, Donna Sego and
companion Donald Schultz of Ogden, and
Sherri Phipps and companion Mark Floden
of Montezuma; his mother-in-law and
father-in-law Betty and Jim Gates and a
brother-in-law Jim Gates, Jr., all of
Boone.
