Friend : Harry L. Cook (WB8ORE)

LTC Harry L. Cook, USA (Ret.), age 90, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001. He is a graduate of Perdue University in 1934 and served over 20 years in the U.S. Army. Col. Cook was a member of the University Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Ohio and the Scottish Rite and Alzafar Shrine. He was a long time resident of Westerville, Ohio, where he was a founding member of Central College Presbyterian Church. Col. Cook also retired as an agronomist from Landmark, Inc. of Columbus, Ohio. He was a Blendon Township Trustee in the Westerville area. Col. Cook was a long time amateur radio operator and his call sign is WB8ORE. He was also a member of USAF Mars Program. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bessie Cook. Survivors: son, Lee Cook and wife, Gayle; grandsons, Christopher and Brian Cook, all of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Ethyl Cooper, LaFayette, Indiana; niece, Shirley Sonnenberg, Collinsville, IL. A Graveside Service was held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, on June 21st, with Full Military Honors, with the Rev. Jim Hime officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
