Co founder of Gateway Electronics is St. Louis with stores in San Diego and Denver. Stu always had a smile and a warm welcome for everyone.
Stu was a great influence on the electronic community in St. Louis and elsewhere. He knew everyone in the commercial radi biz, and was always up to date with helpfull information. Gateway Electronics was the local hangout for Hams and commercial radio ops, and on any Saturday, dozens of us would congregate there. Stu always called eveyone by first name, and remembered their wives names as well. That's why we all felt like we were his "special" friend. For sure we all thought he was our specail friend to. From our fist meeting almost 38 years ago, to our last at his retirement, he's alway's been "uncle Stu" to me.
No matter how busy he was or how crowded his store was, Stu would always stop and take a minute to talk with me about my job, my family and my ham activities. Even if I didn't have anything special in mind to purchase, I'd find myself stopping by the store to chat with Stu. He was a good friend and I'll never forget his enthusiasm and warm smile
