I met Joe on a repeater and he went to work from Barnegat,NJ to Phila PA.
He heard me sending CW to other hams because I wanted input on how I sounded with my new bug.
Joe broke in and said it sounds commercial.
Joe was a read DX hound and a very active member of the old Barny Light house club.
He used to take his lunch outside in the summer and we talked, joked and also KA3FJY was a part of out 2 meter crazy net:-)
Joe left for home around 5 AM.
When he arived he made coffee then he sure gave me a work out on CW
He gave me good tips and before long I was sending 35 + WPM.
about 2 years ago I sent him an E mail and I never got a response.
A month later I tried again and it bounced.
I looked up N2OO and he told me Joe got up one morning then just dropped.
I also remember several times Joe had car problems and he asked me to call his wife and I detected in his voice something was not right.
I asked if he wanted me to stay with him incase the car just shut down and he said yes.
I later met Joe and he saud he had some health issues and when they hit he felt spooky miles away from any help.
I lost contact with joe when moved and was no longer able to put up an outdoor antenna.
I missed Joe and he was a COOL ham.
The times we worked CW must amount to hours.
RIP Joe and kep that bug going
Another BUG ham that misses you
