Friend : Joe Keller (W8WW)

Like many of us, Amateur Radio was not just a hobby to Joe, it was a way of life. I knew Joe since 1960. He lived in Livonia, Michigan, but later moved to Florida after retirement.

Many of you old time Dayton Flea Market veterans will remember, for many years, a guy with a loud speaker continually all weekend, anouncing "Get your Drake Finals here." well, that was Joe!

RIP Joe! ... SK

I met Joe (K8INX) around 1958. My call then was KN8NFE. I remember his Echophone RCVR and Homebrew XMTR (ARC-5)? at his folks QTH in Livonia. He was always wheeling and dealing with gear and giving me much needed help with antennas, etc. I stayed in touch with him off and on over the years. The last time I spoke to him was at work, he was a sales rep back then, I believe. I agree with K8CPA 100% with his comments...too bad..RIP Joe...Bob W8UUU

Joe was my next door neighbor in the mid sixties.Great sense of humor and master of the practical joke (although W8LAD didnt quite catch the humor).I think somebody once turned the name Joe Keller into Joke Eller. He was always good at helping people with antennas and technical problems. His main band was 75 sideband at night--like every nite from 1961 till 2001.A whizz at homebrewing Kilowatt liear amps. His push pull pair of 813s was a thing of beauty.Always buying and selling rigs No AM stuff, just the best sideband. East side rosie and west side rosie were nicknames for any girlfriend he had (in his single days).

I've been inactive for decades, lost track of everyone, and now while searching for some old friends find one has passed. Joe had been a good fried while I lived near Detroit in the late 70's and I still remember his levity and many of his jokes to very this day. His passing is definitely a loss to many; he had many friends and admirers. I was one.
