Charlie Cook (N8BO) formerly of Parma, OH died suddenly of a massive heart attack on July 6, 2001 in Marion, NC where he moved after retiring from the Parma Police department. Charlie was a good friend and will be missed by all those who knew him. Our most deepest sympathy goes out to Charlie's family in this time of grief. 73's my friend...
I remember the first timee I met Charlie. He drove up to my parent's home in his cruiser and knocked on the door. He was either a Lt. or a Capt. at the time. He asked to talk to the owner of the tower. Since I was a teenager I was very concerned. I brought all of the tower permits to the front door and started to talk about how it was permitted and Charlie stopped me and introduced himself. We became lifelong friends but his health was never the same after he got shot on a robbery call. I'm glad he got to retire to NC and get himself a place on a mountain as he always wanted.
