Friend : Earl E. Wood (WA5YRP)

Obituary:
Earl E. Wood, 91, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014. Earl was born in Slayton, MN on the 31st of May, 1923. He graduated from a high school in Slayton, Minnesota. He enlisted into the army on the 20th of February in 1943. He was an active participant of the Greatest Generation and helped liberate Italy. Earl retired in 1966 as a MSGT E-7. He then went on to serve in the civil service at Fort Bliss in the arts and crafts. Earl's first marriage was on the 30th of May 1948 to Marie Freitager. Marie passed away on April 30, 1984 and Earl remarried. His second marriage was to the love of his life on 16th of June 1985 to Adelaide Bocci, who passed away on July 10, 2004. The last 6 years he devoted his love to Fumico Potter. Earl was a devoted member to the New Hope Lutheran Church. Hobbies included arts and crafts, several amateur radio clubs, hunting, hiking, photography, Indian artifacts, and spending time with family and friends. These are just to name a few of his hobbies. Preceded in death by both wives; daughter, Hannelore Perry; and sister, Blanche Abbott of MN. Earl is survived by his brother Cecil Wood of Chicago; 3 grandchildren of Texas; six great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren.


AS A DEAR FRIEND:
Earl belonged to the Chapter 64 of the QCWA, El Paso ARC and Sun City ARC. Earl had a dozen fruit trees in his back yard and would make half pint jars of jelly that he would give to his ham friends. He would always support the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts in their fund raising efforts.
