John Petersen left us all too early. He was a good friend and was always willing to help out others any way he could.
John was active from 160 Meters thru 2-Meter SSB. He was the former Chairman of the SideWinders-on-Two Radio Club (SWOT), and was its current Vice-Chairman, Webmaster and Net manager. He helped the club get back on its feet in 2001. John enjoyed webdesign and John helped out with several other other radio group websites.
John was also heavily involved with the early development of WSJT in Meteor Scatter use. He was always proud and enthusiastic to be a "Pingjockey".
He will be missed.
John was a hard worker when it came to working on wsjt and building the SWOT group back to its current levels. He had a great passion for 2m ssb bring in newcomers. He was not only a past chairman but VP and one of the NCs for one of the group net’s at the time of his passing. He had worked 100 grids using wsjt on 2m, which only a few have done so far. He will be missed by all that knew him.

John's interest in ham radio ranged from 160 meters to 2 meters.
He was a linchpin in Sidewinders on Two in northern Texas and
southern Oklahoma and often was net control for their weekly
net. I had a number of eyeball to eyeball QSOs with John and
he was a warm, friendly and helpful human being. John passed
very unexpectedly May 3, 2007.
